Instructions for Changing the Port Number in WebKIDSS

Changing the Port Number

10/08/08

Beginning with version 7.2.4 (07/06/08) of WebKIDSS, the port number for publishing on the Web is stored in the database. This is a convenience feature so that the port number does not need to be set using the 4D Customizer every time a new version is downloaded. The first time version 7.2.4 is installed, the port number will be automatically requested and saved with the datafile.

This change was made for convenience, and also because with v2004 of 4D, the 4D Customizer program no longer exists.

There may come a time when you need to change the existing port number to a different one. These instructions will tell you how to do that.

  1. Start WebKIDSS from the server in single user mode. Use "Administrator" as the userid.
  2. Select "Set Web Port Number" from Setup menu.
  3. Type in the new port number. Click OK button.
  4. Quit WebKIDSS.
  5. Restart WebKIDSS using WebServer as userid and Kansas as password. WebKIDSS will now be accessable from the Web on the new port number.
