SPECIAL EDUCATION

The mission of the Special Education Interlocal is to provide quality services that produce independent learners. We are recognized as leaders in the state in areas of alternative assessment of special education eligibility, non-categorical service delivery, provision of services in the least restrictive environments, early childhood special education, and educational technology. We strive to employ highly qualified and hard working staff. In order to support their efforts, we make every attempt to be a family-friendly employer.

Districts
NEKESC assists seven rural school districts with their special education programs and employs special education teachers, related service providers, and paraeducators. In addition, NEKESC hires Special Education Administrators to help school districts with planning, training and supervising special education staff, legal issues, required documentation and reporting, and allocating resources for special education. A full range of special education and related services are available for students with disabilities, including placements in alternative settings.
