REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
• Regular traveling (at least 25%) across the entire state of Kansas • Approximately 10% overnight travel
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to communicate technical information • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Jefferson West School District, USD #340

	• Elementary Special Education Teacher at Jefferson West Elementary School, which is located in Meriden. Jefferson West Elementary is a K – 3rd grade building.
	• Secondary Special Education Teacher at Jefferson West Middle and High School. The Middle School and High School are adjacent to one another, and while this position is split between two buildings, travel is not required.

McLouth School District, USD #342
	Full-time Functional Special Education Teacher for Elementary/Middle School for the 2008-2009 school year in the McLouth School District, USD #342. McLouth is a small friendly district with approximately 550 students with close proximity to both Lawrence and Leavenworth. All of McLouth's schools are located in one building. The McLouth schools have strong administrative support and a cohesive special education team.

Perry Lecompton District, USD #343
Perry-Lecompton is a dynamic medium-sized school district located between Lawrence, Topeka, and Kansas City. The faculty of Perry-Lecompton are dedicated to helping each other develop as professionals to better serve students. Their success is measured by low turnover rates; most openings are the result of relocations or retirements.
	• Elementary Special Education Teacher at Perry Elementary School, a K-4th grade building.

Atchison County Community Schools, USD #377
The Atchison County District is a 3A school, located about 45 minutes from Topeka and Kansas City, and close to Leavenworth and Atchison. The district achieved Building Level Standards of Excellence in 3 buildings, with the High school reaching achieving this distinction for both Math and Reading.
	• High School Special Education Teacher at Atchison County Community High School, located in Effingham. The Atchison County District is a 3A school with the High School. Effingham is located near Atchison and Leavenworth. The High School achieved the Standard of Excellence last year in Math on the Kansas State Assessments. This position involves working with 9th through 12th grade special education students. There are two other full-time special education teachers in the building, allowing for frequent collaboration. Job responsibilities include collaborating with teachers and parents and providing services to high school students with mild to moderate disabilities.

Speech Therapist
	• Atchison County Community Schools, USD #377
Opportunities for Speech Therapists working for the NEKESC include: regular dialogue with colleagues in SLP departmental meetings; involvement with ongoing NEKESC teams, such as assistive technology, mini-team members for Autism Spectrum Disorders and Traumatic Brain Injury; and the opportunity to participate in staff development opportunities both on-site as well as state-wide workshops. NEKESC bases SLP caseloads upon several factors including number of students, severity of students, scheduling, and number of buildings.

Applicants need to have a Kansas License. We are able to hire SLPs who will be completing their Clinical Fellowship Year, and we do provide a CFY Supervisor as well as mentoring for beginning SLPs or SLPs new to our agency.

School Psychologist
	• Jefferson County North, USD #339 and Valley Falls, USD #338 Full-time School Psychologist for the 2008-2009 school year in the Jefferson County North, USD #339 and Valley Falls, USD #338 Districts. This position involves working with preschool through 12th grade students. Job responsibilities include collaboration and instructional consultation with teachers, principals, and parents; assisting schools with implementation of the problem-solving process/MTSS/RtI; and evaluation of students. This position is based out of the Jefferson County North Elementary/Middle School.
Opportunities for School Psychologists working for the NEKESC include: ongoing collegial dialogue at departmental meetings; involvement with ongoing NEKESC teams, such as assistive technology, mini-team members for Autism Spectrum Disorders and Traumatic Brain Injury; and the opportunity to participate in staff development opportunities both on-site as well as state-wide workshops.

Gifted Facilitators
	Full-time Gifted Education teachers for the 2008-2009 school year in the service area of Northeast Kansas Educational Service Center #608. These positions involve working with elementary through 12th grade students. Job responsibilities include collaboration and instructional consultation with teachers, principals, and parents; assisting schools with implementation of enrichment activities.
Applicants must possess or be eligible for Kansas licensure and be willing to work toward appropriate endorsement if necessary.

	NEKESC accepts applications for Elementary, Middle and High School special education teachers, related service providers, long-term substitutes and paraeducators.

Family Training and Support Coordinator - KISN Project
	DEPARTMENT: .5 FTE KISN (Kansas Instructional Support Network) and .5 FTE Families Together Inc. OVERALL RESPONSIBILITES: a. Development of a Rapid Response System (using existing infrastructure of service providers as “first responders” to children screened and identified as at risk for being identified with developmental disabilities, whereby children identified with significant communication, behavior and social interaction needs and their families are provided with information regarding services in their LOCAL areas. b. Development of an activity list along with initial parent training information to decrease wait time and engagement parents in evidenced based activities that reinforce and improve outcomes for children. The list of activities would include resources from education, community, and the medical field (see information from Act Early Summit). This would expand the role of KSDE to facilitation of services, in addition to a provider of services. c. Develop parent education modules on evidence based interventions. d. Provide training in areas of parent concern (sleep issues, toileting, social skill development, etc.). e. Provide training to Tiny K, as well as identify persons at the local level to assist in the coordination of services between the early intervention teams and schools. This is an essential function for this position. f. Assist schools in identifying early childhood educators and community service providers to deploy this model statewide. A pilot program targeting rural, urban and suburban issues would be preferable for the pilot program as each presents its own barriers and has its own resources. g. Align training for parents with the current statewide training provided to educational service providers.
Successful candidates must possess strong communication skills, educational experience, and expertise in working with children who have significant communication, behavior or social interaction needs as well as families.

	Primary Duties The Director of Learning & Leading provides leadership to improve curriculum, instruction, assessment, and positive behavior supports through the development of marketable products and services. The Director is responsible for the Keystone division of Learning and Leading and for associated budgetary issues. He/she ensures that quality services are delivered to clients in a way that improves student learning and positively represents Keystone Learning Services.
Summary of Essential Job Functions • Promote positive change in schools and districts where services are purchased. • Represent Keystone Learning Services at conferences, workshops, and State meetings. • Design and implement workshops that promote best instructional practices, positive behavioral supports, and effective school improvement. • Remain current regarding curricular and instructional issues. • Develop a financially viable division of Learning and Leading. • Actively market products and services to expand the range of Keystone operations. • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
